For many of us work is a major part of our lives. It provides an income, structure and an opportunity to make friends and useful connections. Having a fulfilling job can be good for your mental health and general wellbeing.
However, we all experience periods when work can feel overwhelming. Whether the source is work-related or stems from our personal lives, these challenges, if unaddressed, can escalate into significant problems down the line.
This useful guide from the Mental Health Foundation explains what we can do to manage the challenges in our lives to support our own mental health, describing the steps we can take to do this, including making time for physical activity, eating a healthy balanced diet and practicing self-acceptance.
It also provides actionable guidance on recognising poor mental health in colleagues and supporting them to take steps to improve it.
For employers, it describes how workplaces prioritising mental health cultivate happier and more productive environments, and sets out what they can do to build a mentally healthy workplace.
There is a lot we can do to promote positive mental health at work – this guide will explain how.
