Ways to wellbeing

Time in flow states can give our subconscious time to process thoughts or problems. This can lead to ‘ah-ha’ moments, when ideas or solutions to problems seem to pop into our minds spontaneously.

Research during the pandemic showed that people who spent more time doing hobbies felt less anxious and were better able to manage their feelings.

There are lots of opportunities for finding a new hobby or picking up an old one. Finding something you enjoy and regularly making time for it is what’s important.

Connections to other ways to wellbeing

The other ways to wellbeing give ideas about the types of hobbies we can do to help protect and improve our mental wellbeing. From being creative, learning about our history and heritage, to getting outside and connecting with nature.

Take a look at our ‘Wellbeing Tools’ for opportunities to try something new or browse the ‘Get Inspired’ section to see what hobbies people in Wales have told us are important for their mental wellbeing.
