Why is looking after your mental wellbeing important to you?

I like to be sensible about keeping on top of things, so I don’t get stressed – even if I have difficult life challenges, I still try to find some time to do something nice or appreciate something around me.

What do you do to protect and improve your mental wellbeing?

I like to make sure I take a few minutes to listen to something on the radio while I wash up and clean the kitchen.

At the end, I have a cleaner living space but also have enjoyed the programme, maybe had a laugh or learnt something.

I’ve also been using the Active 10 app to get walking briskly every day. When I’m out walking, I see what people have planted in their gardens, what’s growing at the wayside and look out for flowers I don’t recognise. Sometimes I take photos so I can identify them later.

What is one thing you have started doing in the last year that’s helped your mental wellbeing?

This year, I have been making sure the view outside the kitchen window looks nice, and I top up a bird feeder hanging there. So when I’m waiting for the kettle to boil, I can look out of the window take a moment to enjoy what I can see.

Anything else you’d like to share? This might be a quote or advice you’d like to give to others.

I’m trying to put good habits into my day that make me feel good, so whatever life throws at me, I can deal with it.
