This tool was developed as part of Cultural Cwtsh, which was an online creative wellbeing hub for the health and care workforce in Wales, created by the Arts Council of Wales in collaboration with artists across the country.
In partnership with the Arts Council of Wales, we’re excited to share this mental wellbeing tool, alongside with many other creative resources, with everyone in Wales!
My name is Krystal and I’m a Wales-based dancer, choreographer, writer, director and mother originally from a tiny island called Bermuda! I moved to Wales in 2012 for ballet!
I have over 1o years’ experience facilitating movement workshops for disabled and non-disabled participants of all ages. It is my desire to empower communities through movement.
I started dancing when I was seven years old and it offered me a place to build my confidence, stay active and engaged, and express myself. Now I spend my career sharing my love of movement with others.
Join me in a series of basic ballet sessions to get moving gently while learning a new style of dance. This series of workshops is for all ages to take part together.
So, grab a chair, sofa back, or rest your hand on a wall as we begin with a few ballet exercises at ‘barre’ to warm your body up slowly.
Then we’ll head to the centre of our spaces and together we’ll use the same steps we learned at the barre to move even more in the centre. Finally, we’ll put all we’ve learned together into a short ballet-based dance before a cool down/stretch.
You don’t need anything that you don’t already have to take part in this workshop series. Make sure you’re wearing comfortable clothing, keep some water nearby, and ensure there is nothing on the floor that could cause you any harm.
Ready? Let’s go!
